She Acts Like Summer and Dances Like Rain
Updated: Nov 21, 2018
I don't think I can express how painful it can be as an artist to have a concept in your mind and be made to wait to create. Ok, maybe some of you understand. Last year I had this image and project pop in my head.
While it's not EXACTLY what I had envisioned, it's pretty darn close. I love the idea of the bright red dress and the white snow. I'm so blessed to have so many beautiful dancers in my life willing to play, pose, and dress up in these huge gowns for my art.
This summer I discovered Enola Gaye smoke grenades. I researched how to use them (and even how to make them, but was too chicken to take that on!) and how others had used them in photos and video.
With the idea that showing movement is so interesting in a photo, I wanted a way to use the movement of the smoke and the movement of dance.
We were not at all prepared for the smell and lack of wind at the time we used the smoke grenades! Hahaha
