Y'all, I've Been Busy...

Let me tell you a little about this shoot I designed with my pal, Kimberly. It all goes back to when Kim was doing a bunch of traveling all over the US, including trips to Texas. Having lived in Austin for years I was excited for her to explore some of the same places I had visited when I lived there.

The paper products by Zula Bell included a touch of gold and the color of the Atlantic ocean you often see in Maine. I love the texture and font!

She and I started brainstorming our next styled shoot together, the location changed a few times, the season definitely changed (thanks global pandemic!), and even the models changed!

However, when Kim and I work on a project together we put our heart into it, and never let anything stop us! The male model isn't a model at all (even though he's been told he looks like Jason Aldean!) he's Kim's beau and grew up in Texas! So, I called this one "Texas Meets Maine." We envisioned wide open skies, a majestic horse, and lots of golden sunshine! Kyle built the arbor for our project and my own husband built the picnic table seen in the cake photos!

Speaking of a majestic horse, how perfect is Cayden for this styled shoot?! Just his presence commands respect and the look in his eye is wild but kind. He truly is an amazing soul and I'm so honored to have captured his presence for Black Thunder Friesians!

The cake design reminds me of the line in a popular Texan song "Deep in the Heart of Texas," "The stars at night are big and bright, Deep in the heart of Texas!" Sydney of Mountain View Confections had us "mmmm-ing" and exclaiming how GOOD the cake is. Truth be told I fought Kim to be able to take the leftovers home!

When I contacted Meredith at Mimi and Mum I thought there was a chance I was asking too much. I don't think many Maine based florists get asked for western/boho styled arrangements very often! However, she delivered my dream and expanded on it! The arbor florals and the bouquet really brought everything together in a way that only real flowers can! I'm in love with how they look and they smelled divine, too!

Now as for some of the smaller details, no Texas themed wedding is complete without pecan pie, sweet tea, or Dr. Pepper!
