Destination weddings are really popular in Maine. The picturesque scenery, the food, and cooler temps are appealing for many. However, for this bride Maine is her childhood home. Getting married here just made sense. With friends and family from all over, it was a real treat to have everyone connected to Laurie & Bill in one special place.
The Colony Hotel, a member of Historic Hotels of America since 1999, dates back to 1872. The Colony hotel is spectacularly situated amid glorious and manicured gardens on a rocky promontory above the Atlantic Ocean and provided the perfect backdrop for this beautiful event. Guests were treated to colorful wall paper, breathtaking views, and beautiful hardwood floors as well as delicious food and drink.
The wedding gown is a Sleeveless Cafe au Lait featuring a lovely V neck column dress with applique lace and bead overlay by Allure Bridal. It comes from Julie Allen Bridal in Newtown, CT.
Weather in Maine in the spring time tends to be tricky to plan around. It could be 80 degrees and sunny one day and like on this wedding day, 50 degrees and showers. Unfortunately that means a ballroom wedding. The gorgeous and fragrant flowers by Harmon’s Floral Company brightened up the room and set the tone.
The guests laughed, and cried, and then laughed some more during this heartfelt and sweet ceremony officiated by Jim Pinette.
At the reception The Music Man DJ Service had everyone on their feet from the beginning of the party to the very end!
It was a day to remember for years to come and I am so honored to have captured the day.
